PARIS, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Hubert Kos claimed Hungary's first gold medal of the Paris Games as Canadian teenager Summer McIntosh continued her sublime form on the sixth day of Olympic swimming.

McIntosh seized her second gold medal of the competition with a dominant performance in the women's 200m butterfly final, setting a new Olympic record.

The 17-year-old blew away her rivals to finish in two minutes, 3.03 seconds, 0.81 seconds faster than American Regan Smith, who took silver. China's Zhang Yufei claimed bronze in 2:05.09.

McIntosh, who also won gold in the 400m individual medley on Sunday, beat the previous Olympic record of 2:03.86 set by Zhang in Tokyo three years ago.

"It means the world," she said. "That was definitely one of my favorite races."

McIntosh joins French superstar Leon Marchand as the only swimmers to take multiple individual gold medals at Paris 2024 so far.

Kos bagged the men's 200m backstroke gold by holding off challenges from Greece's Apostolos Christou and Switzerland's Roman Mityukov, who took silver and bronze, respectively.

"I haven't really processed this. I need a little time but I am over the moon," said Kos, who won the world championship in 2023.

"I knew I had to have speed coming back. It doesn't matter how I got there, it matters that I got there."

Douglass grabbed the women's 200m breaststroke gold by finishing more than half a second ahead of reigning champion Tatjana Smith of South Africa. Dutchwoman Tes Schouten took bronze, almost two seconds behind Douglass.

"For a while I wasn't sure if Olympic champion was going to be possible for me to say and now it's really exciting to see it happen," Douglass said.

Australia lived up to its billing as favorite in the 4x200m freestyle relay, taking gold ahead of the United States and China.
